While mentoring and coaching at Tyrone Crawford’s 5th Annual Windsor’s Finest Football Academy Football Camp in Windsor, Ontario, the Dallas Cowboys five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith, gave himself a clean bill of health.

The good news for Cowboys brass and fans alike is Smith pointed out, that he is feeling good and his body has responded well to the extra hours of rehabilitation, thus avoiding possible off-season surgery.

“With my off-season training, I have been getting back to square one and just taking care of my body,” Smith said. “I have focussed on more stretching exercises, stretching my hips out and taking more stress off my body, along with incorporating yoga.”

After battling through injuries last season, the 27-year-old Smith said he started off- season training earlier this year to be ready for the upcoming season.

Many fans pointed to the Ezekiel Elliott suspension as the team’s downfall, but with the Cowboy star left tackle not suiting up in three games last year Smith’s absence really hampered the Cowboys offensive attack.

Over the past two seasons, Smith has missed a total of six starts. In those games the Cowboys were 3-3. When Smith has suited up in his 26 starts during this same stretch, the Cowboys boast a 19-7 record. In mid-January, the Dallas Cowboys hired Paul Alexander as their new offensive line coach. Previously, Alexander had spent the last 23 seasons as the Cincinnati Bengals offensive line coach. He also held the title of assistant coach under Marvin Lewis. Smith said he has spoken with Alexander and is looking forward to working with him this upcoming season.
